Being what my wife calls “overly suspicious by nature” led me to speculate as to how the Democratic party got itself into the pickle they now find themselves in…

 I say pickle because I firmly believe having a man so totally unqualified to be their nominee, will be a decision they will come to regret by November 4th … (& If you believe some of the talk on the Internet… A Hell of a lot sooner)

Coming into this election cycle it's fairly safe to say Hillary Clinton was a lock for the Democratic nomination… As the hostility between the Clinton and Obama camps reached fever pitch, I became convinced that there was a lot more going on behind the scenes than any of us will ever know… 

From what I know of Bill & Hillary Clinton they are master campaign strategists… I suspect  that at some point, well before the primaries began, the only thing the Clintons were fretting was who needed to be added to her ticket so “she” could make history…  

I can so clearly see the late night strategy session…

It's 3:00 AM the phone rings in Bill‘s bedroom… 

Bubba: "hallo"

Hillary: “Bill it's me Hillary calling from my bedroom, I hope I'm not interrupting you with anyone, but I just had a great idea for my Vice Presidential pick…

Bubba: Now Hillary you know we already promised Bill Richardson the position
 
Hillary: I know but what do you think about that Junior Senator from Illinois, you know, the Goat herder's kid, that gave the great speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention…”

Bubba: “Hmm…  I like Bill, but I've long had doubts about his ability to deliver the Hispanic vote as promised anyway... I like this a lot better…”

Hillary: “But he‘s a little short on national exposure…”
Bubba: “That's an easy fix..  We'll approach him about running in a couple of the primaries to build his name up, then after a couple of states he drops out, pledges his support & we take him as our Vice President… ”

Hillary: "Oh that's perfect...I knew there was a reason a put up with you... Now you can get back to sleep"

Of course a funny thing happened on the road to Denver, all the states the Democrats won't win come early,  the Obama’s were savvy enough to realize that the liberal media prefers African American over estrogen… & as quick as one can say “Yes We Can”,  the Democrats find themselves with a ticket that realistically could, as Dennis Miller might say, make George McGovern look like William the Conqueror

Or as my Aunt Cathy, a fairly liberal centrist recently pointed out to me,

“In a year that should have been ripe for the taking, the Democrats have managed to turn this race from Historical to Hysterical”…

& Somehow I can’t help shake the feeling that it’s a comedy of the Clintons own making…
