From Left to Right. Democratic 2008 Presidential candidates, Barack Obama, Bill Richardson, Hillary Clinton and an unidentified woman at Senator Harkin's "Steak Fry" on October 1, 2007. This photo was taken during the national anthem. Photo courtesy of Time Magazine.

During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. -- United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171

Obama stops wearing flag pin

Why Barack won't wear American Flag on chest

Hey let's face it, there are freedoms we have that are used in ways alien to most Americans but technically, we need to allow the use of them. If the senator from Illinois insists on breaking protocol or even fail to observe reverence for the American flag, let him. I personally think Obama is for Hillary Clinton, the gift that keeps on giving. There is a difference between not saluting or wearing a pin flag or holding one's hand over heart and then making it a point in refusing to do so.
To aspire to be commander-in-chief of the United States military, which has deep reverence for God and Country and the flag included, and not share the sentiment is to state a lack of comprehension.
