Ken Pittman
Ken Pittman is the afternoon voice for Greater New Bedford's WBSM 1420.
From 2PM thru 6PM M-F..
Ken's Bio
Here are the big issues as I see them in this "brainstorm":
* Hiring of 18,000 new Border Patrol Agents
* Construction of 200 miles of barriers, 370 miles of fencing and the construction of 70
ground based radar and camera towers on the Mexican border.
* All illegal aliens in the United States before January 1, 2007 will be able to stay should they pass an alleged criminal background check and if they pay a
$5,000 fine broken up with a $1000 and then $4000 payment, get a "Z" visa which will allow them to eventually become eligible for a green
card or permanent residency. These "Z" visas will also allow the parents, children and
spouses of these aliens the same probationary path to citizenship expected to be between 8
and 13 years.
* Points will be awarded for those assimilating. Efforts like proficiency in the English language,
graduate and post graduate education, even more so for those in the science and math fields.
There will also be rewards for those with expertise in certain labor demands.
* The deal also raises the number of H-1B visas used by American universities and
corporations to find these highly skilled experts like scientists, medical doctors and
surgeons, computer programmers. The existing visa entrance is now at 65,000 and will be
elevated to 115,000 or even as high as 180,000 if the U.S. has the demand in certain years.
* "Heads of households" illegal aliens would have to return home after work stints of two
years, with little opportunity to gain permanent legal status or ever become U.S. citizens.
They could renew their guest worker visas twice, but would be required to leave for a year
in between each time.
Some of these things can be applauded but most of it is a kick in the crotch to both American taxpayers and to the law abiding immigrants in waiting. Before I start railing against the lack of spine shown by these planners (They are fearful to say the "A" word). Amnesty!! There I said it. I want to first point out though, how hollow the reasoning is to send the alleged bread winners of these families out of the country while their families are allowed to remain in the country. Gee, who pays for their existence during this year? One guess. Yeah, we do.
Sadly it is the least of the least who will be harmed the most in this deal.
The poorest, least educated immigrants who did not steal into our nation will now be denied entrance the longest. The unskilled Americans in the low income class will now compete for the same jobs, housing, social-aid and legislative representation as those granted amnesty, rewarded for breaking the law. Even the middle-class Americans will see wages lowered and deflated as people willing to work for less are rewarded for their illegal presence. America, after completing the security measures, will change immigration policy to accept those already educated and skilled, aka, those with money. Don't get me wrong because this will strengthen the nation as opposed to the former practice of prioritizing visas with family connections but remember who we really are. We are the descendants of immigrants, many who fled famine, persecution and other undesirable situations.
We will now be denying the poorest and most desperate, "The American Dream". European, Australian, Asian immigrants with better qualifications and education systems will enter long before the African, Central and South Americans applicants thanks to this senseless package put together by out of touch rich people who's personal fortunes are off-shore and sheltered from the U.S. tax code and who have basically harmed the lower and middle classes on both sides of the border here.
To make matters worse, those of us without power will pay this enormous bill without any say. Mexicans put Mexicans first. Brazillians put Brazillians first. British put British first. Why is it immoral for a patriotic American to put America first? Join me and hundreds of others on May 26 at the "America First" rally in New Bedford. Some things are worth fighting for and too many Americans have died for our way of life to wane into obscurity, coaxed asleep by the radical left and corporate sell-outs both. I'll be damned if I let some self-interest traitors with ulterior motives sell this nation off as a slumbering American people show an unexplainable indifference. We must awaken this country or lose it.

Im confused. A mechanism has been established, which, despite conspiracy mongering about Manchurian communist agents and open borders, is what everyone wanted.
Your propensity to critique the only bipartisan attempt at reform, an act that gives certainty to all, is telling.
So what's your agenda???

Let me first start off by saying I am for people making a better life for themselves......but LEGALLY!
But through all of this I have 3 additional questions.
1) Don't you think the media is covering this so hard that people are still jumping the borders to get here before such a bill is passed? I almost want to say you better believe it....It says anyone here before Jan 1st 2007..... well prove they weren't here....I mean we don't even have a tally to those who are here now.....
2) By doing this proposed bill.....(Z Visa) are these people entitled the right to vote? It does make them legal correct? Because if they are, they certainly are entitled to get their asses out on the fields of war just like our hardworking sons, fathers, and grandfathers have done to maintain the ever so wanted freedom that they are fighting for. Let them lose their lives just as our own family members have....they will see that NOTHING is really free.
And lastly....
3) If people are here because they claim they want/need a better life.....then what is the purpose of taking the money you make here (including some under the table....we need to clamp down on employers and make sure it is ALL DONE LEGALLY) and sending it over to your home country?? How does that benefit your life here? It doesn't.....all it does is suck our systems dry....a system that will eventually collapse itself. Our wage will decline....and our trusts will have no more money to give.
We have elderly out there and homeless out there, our own people, and we can't find a way to help them.......but take a walk into the social security office/welfare office because I have..... you will see that most Illegals aren't attempting to get a job but are more-so attempting to collect a check...or free money!
I am truely a disgusted AMERICAN!
