Gary Gomes is a familiar name in New Bedford. Once his name was implicated in the double murder on Tuesday January 6th, I knew the name was familiar and in a negative way. *Oh yeah. He is the nut who tried running over a man in his car (he did hit him with it) and dragged the guy's wife into the woods to strangle her back on July 4th, 2006. So what the blankity-blank was he doing on the streets a free man in December of 2008?

A one man "violent crime wave" kills soon after serving extreme lenient sentence.
A twelve year old girl is now without her mother. She was abducted for a time, trapped by her mother's killer in her own home on Phillips Road until New Bedford and Massachusetts State Police rescued her from his clutch. Her father was the intended next victim according to police. Victor Mendes was alleged to have been Gary Gomes' next mutilated target. "This had to happen", is what police say he told them. A twelve year old girl was going to watch her mother's killer and estranged ex-boyfriend dismember and kill her only surviving parent were it not for the distinct smell of natural gas that disrupted a madman's scheme.

According to police Gomes murdered his mother at her apartment on Independence Street and then lured Mendes there where he also stabbed her to death, undressed and redressed her, applied make-up on her face, placed her in a bed and painted I Love You on the ceiling.  It was spelled:  I, a heart symbol and the letter 'U'.

Before leaving the scene of the crime, Gomes then  turned the natural gas on, turned on an electric space heater in a primitive attempt to set the apartment house on fire and disguise the way in which the women died.

Victor Mendes and his wife Robyn had separated for a time several years ago and in that time, she began some sort of relationship with Gomes until it quickly became apparent to her that he was violent. She ended up fleeing her home and staying with her husband for protection against Gomes but he eventually found then both and attacked them on July 4th, 2006. He tried to murder Victor by running him over in his car. Once Victor was incapacitated, he then dragged Robyn and dragged her deep into the woods in a rural area in the far north end of New Bedford. State Police helicopters and K-9 units converged on the area and found Gomes strangling Mendes and arrested him. He was out of Bristol County jail in under  two and a half years. In less then a month after his release, he murdered his mother and Mendes.

Of course the obvious question here is: How the hell is he not just a fraction of the way through an appropriate sentence considering he was charged with:  assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a household member, leaving the scene of an accident after causing property damage and operating a motor vehicle to endanger.

There are people sitting in jail as long or longer for floating checks!

Electing liberal politicians means you should expect liberal, bleeding heart, appointed judges who are incapable of caring more about the victim's rights than the criminals.

So again, I feel most sad for the daughter who now has no mother, in part thanks to the bleeding heart Massachusetts 'justice' system.
