Ken's Bio
Reeling from severe defeats here in Massachusetts, nationally and even in regards to state ballot initiatives, the Republicans were routed in 2008. Nationally the Democrats had one last chance at Bush. Revenge was a motivation but to take away from the dynamo candidate Barack Obama would indicate a lack of grasping the catalyst. This Obama/Biden campaign will be the textbook for all effective campaigns in the near future. Internet and other techno-networking have proved to be invaluable tools in terms of fund-raising and information sharing.
However, here in Massachusetts and most of New England there is a particular and additional advantage liberals enjoy over their counterparts to the right. A well established synergy of unions, media and activists to aid the continuous political careers of long-standing incumbents almost guarantees the outcome. It has become apparent that print press and television media are unapologetically influencing elections by promoting liberal pols and philosophies and diabolically suppressing news that harms the agenda. I'm convinced that certain editors are foot soldiers to the cause first and dedicated to journalistic integrity second. This is a sad reality that constitutional heretics can corrupt a sacred freedom such as the freedom of the press found in our Bill of Rights.
The founders wanted to ensure the media had rights to tell the truth about government and society. Had Jefferson, Madison and other authors of the founding documents known of the agenda to control the news, the language found in the First Amendment would have been strangled in the cradle.
Massachusetts is so vitally important to the Democratic and leftist agenda that it is beyond high time we focus our attention to undermine the unchallenged fluidity from which the farm produces the crop of operatives. Here, we do not only produce the all-stars of the liberal ranks, we are the authors of king making. Where do you think Barack Obama would be now without the knighting by Senator Ted Kennedy or the DNC keynote speech authorized by Senator Kerry in 2004?
To the GOP national strategists who fly over Massachusetts as a foregone conclusion that we are a lost cause and a waste of resources, I challenge you to stop doing the same things expecting a different outcome. In any modern war, the key is to disrupt weapons productions. Massachusetts is The Factory. Instead of conceding we need to infiltrate and raise an insurgency of conservatives.
In case you haven't noticed, this is exactly what has been done in New Hampshire,Virginia, Arizona, Ohio and Florida. Many of the campaign studies done by the Democrats in 07'-08' were born of Karl Rove's planning. They freely admit this. We should now borrow some of their effective operations and do this ASAP. 2010 is around the corner and 2012 will be here in a much shorter time than you think. (You know I'm right)
The time to act is now. The things to do cannot mean status quo. A more intense effort, new philosophies in strategy and recruiting must be created and these must include trail blazing into enemy territory, yes even to Massachusetts the 'belly of the beast' where I broadcast from each day in Barney Frank's district in New Bedford.
In the strategy of the near future, we can apply the same tactics to a national scheme and some more specific intense efforts need to be applied to Massachusetts races.
Game plan:
Nat'l Find common ground with union labor - No this is not a joke. American labor is vital not just as a constituency but we need to become an ally to it as we watch more jobs go overseas. There is an opportunity here as Democrats have proved to be less concerned with various labor unions as time moves ahead. We cannot lunge into any alliance with far leftist international labor entities or organized crime but we can create healthy relationships with locally formed and reasonable Organized Labor. Too many union laborers are upset with much of the DNC platform and vote based on union issues alone. We need to offer many of them an alternative.
Nat'l Start dedicating operatives to academia, teachers in public schools etc. - "The philosophy of the classrooms today will be the policy of government tomorrow." - Abraham Lincoln. This brilliant thought seems to be lost on Republicans but not on Democrats. Academia is dominated by the left. Conservative leanings are rarely found in the people forming our children's minds. We need our young Republicans in college to think long and hard about contributing here. The commitment is certainly met by our opponents on the left.
MA Consolidate local campaign efforts so several GOP committees gang up on one race in a district - Instead of offering five poorly or lesser financed campaigns with fewer volunteers in each race, for the time being and until further notice the strategy has to be to converge more assets like town and city committees on to one targeted race in the immediate area. Coordinate with other towns, study and figure which races are winnable and then focus on that one. We need to crawl before we walk and walk before we run. Accept the fact that this will be a painfully slow process but one that will succeed.
Nat'l Do not retreat one step on conservative social values - Where ever moderate to liberal Republicans are, they lose or lose soon after they've won. The safest Republicans are ones who have strong conservative platforms. Massachusetts has tried to appease liberals with GOP-lite candidates and guess what? Right. They still lose. People want a contrast.
MA Train covert operatives; infiltrate liberal activist meetings and their political huddles "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer." - Sun tzu
Proactive planning works well when the opposition's path is known. So many good people want to help but don't know how. They think the only way to help is with money or countless hours of commitment. This is not true. We can recruit volunteers to give time when they can and assign them to pop in on meetings and planning of opposition campaigns etc. These people are out there and it is up to you to find them.
MA Fund-raising starting in November 2008 - Do not wait until October of 2009 when it is clear who the candidates are. The GOP needs to raise flex funds now..yesterday preferably! Have fun, make the gatherings enjoyable. Invite VIP to speak, they will show up. Be creative but do it now. We're already down 28 - 0 at halftime but this is doable.
MA Candidate recruitment and constituency courting - District committee men and women need to stay alert and realize talent when they see it. Once you decide the person is right and they agree to run, investigate their backgrounds intensely. Again..start today.
Nat'l More intense effort to keep media accountable - This is another area where people who don't believe they can help, can help. Write to the editors, have your letters printed. Call TV station's or radio station's news directors that offer slanted news or who have suppressed news. Set up teams to pound the same media with a barrage of calls and letters. There are about one-million conservative voters in Massachusetts. I think finding one in fifty is very doable especially if you start TODAY!!!!!
To our Conservative friends across the nation. Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida did not fall because of the way these citizens think alone. They have fallen victims to the inaction of the Republican Party to take out or at least slow down the highly productive factory of liberals who emigrate from Massachusetts in body or in mind. Boston pumps out over 50,000 college grads who are mostly indoctrinated by leftist college professors. That means some 30,000+ of the convinced head back to YOUR states each year. Let's do the math: 30,000/49 = 612 per state per year. Professionals like teachers and politicians and campaign organizers etc.
The philosophy of academia is aided by the appointments of the chancellors made by the elected. Do not forget this vital cog. Helping us helps you. George Washington once saw the desperation of the underdogs fighting the taxist British tyranny in Massachusetts and acted. I am pleading with you all to do the same. Live from behind enemy lines, yours in Christ - Ken Pittman
