1982 NBHS Graduate - Honorably Discharged from USMC after serving from 7/82-6/86 - Journeyman Telecommunications Technichian.
A labor activist--with a lengthy history of successful civil litigation, (6-0), against the various "Ma Bell" offshoots. Licenced charter boat Capt. actively studying Radical Islam for over 20 years.
I am an unapologetic critic of Islam & feel reform within that religion is key to ultimate victory.
I'd like to start by congratulating President Elect Obama, Black America & the legion of supporters who helped make his campaign the brilliant success it was... Whether you supported Mr. Obama or not history was made last night & America has much to be proud of... Though I have many doubts about the wisdom of this selection, I urge all who opposed him to be open minded and fair to our next President elect... Every elected President deserves the support of the people (all the people) at least until there is something to be critical about, him being elected against your wishes is not a reason (Something that folks on the left could learn a lesson from)...
I doubt you'll see protests, law suits or people frothing at the mouth that somehow the will of the people has not been heard... No today will be time of introspection and reflection on the part of those who have been residing over this decline of the Republican party loe these last 8 years... You can thank GW Bush for this, You can thank Don Rumsfeld for this, Colin Powell, Condi Rice, but most importantly you can thank your local & state leadership, who remain fixated on alpha issues that so many of us think passé...
1 prime example...
We have defended our right to have conservative voices on commercial airwaves (& arguably Fox News) but we didn't do a thing to stop the liberal takeover of our schools & colleges... In this Internet era which seems more important today???
Rush will still have his millions & we'll be generations trying to reintegrate conservatives back into academia... Having young Republicans on campus does little good if there are no like minded professors at the university...
The truth is we got beat by a candidate who campaigned on a platform of change, but drew on national despair for popularity... We need to be able to be proud conservatives again... We as a movement need to modernize and shed the labels GW Bush & the left have hung on us... We need to live up to our fiscal values & reshape the discussion on our social liabilities... If we do not I fear we may never again walk with heads held high in the confidence that we are the party of ideas, limited government & the true believers in American exceptionalism...
The level of infighting that took place in our last 2 Presidential primaries was appalling & does not help to paint a united front to the Independent voters we lost decidedly... Our local leaders need to rethink some of their rhetoric as well, or does anyone still think high lighting John McCain's age to muster support for Mitt Romney was prudent ???
As a Republican & as an admonishment to all you Johnny Come Lately's to the civil liberties movement, I for one will be keeping track of all the civil liberties I have on this date Nov. 5th 2008, to see that they compare with the level of civil liberties I possess in Nov. 2012...
I think it's safe to say we'll soon see if your rhetoric on the subject is consistent, or partisan...
Again Good luck To President Elect Obama the real test begins in January... My prayers as always after an election are for this country & that President ObamaObama governs fairly & wisely thereby vindicating the faith others have shown in him...

I, too, don't expect protests or lawsuits over this election, as Obama did not win the presidency by a razor thin margin in a single state as happened both in 2000 and 2004 when Bush won by less than 1% in Florida and 2% in Ohio, respectively. As far as Obama "drawing on national despair", what else is there to draw on when, after 8 years of GOP reign, Americans are watching their retirement funds dwindle, their jobs disappear, their homes foreclosed on, their children coming home in caskets from two meandering military misadventures with no end in sight, and a national debt that has more than doubled to 11 trillion dollars under "conservatism"? Yes, indeed, Obama has seized on the hopes of the overwhelming majority of Americans who acknowledge that our country has been heading in the wrong direction and now needs to be set back on a sensible and responsible track toward a future offering more than war, paranoia, torture, incompetence, cronyism, illegal domestic spying, immature power-grabbing antics, arrogant secrecy, debt, death, decay and destruction.

Dwight do you even read the article or just cherry pick what you want out of it???
I just got done saying GWBush isn't a conservative & that's why we lost... You don't say you're conservative & spend like a drunken sailor... You don't say you're conservative & seek approval from the liberal D C establishment... Bush had so many chances to govern like a Republican instead he went the popularist route & made a mess of things... You should do a little research into the Financial crisis before you go all partisan Dwight... (You really show how uninformed you are) I can read a congressional record can you???
As to how a conservative should have acted...
Do you for one moment think Ronald Reagan would have declared a "War On Terror " in the wake of 9/11??? I rather think not.... Bush should have defined our enemy as well as our overarching agenda in the wake of 9/11 he didn't... He should have held firm against the Progressives on "Affordable Housing" instead he thought he would be able to push his foreign policy agenda if he played ball with the Dems on social issues, & it didn't work... The real culprits are the Congressional Republicans who didn't stand up for conservatism in his 1st 4 years... Reagan had the ability to speak the uncomfortable truth to the American People, obviously that was always going to be difficult this election cycle as political Correctness ruled the day, but the attempt should have been made with some amount of earnest, it never was... Don't believe me, look who's now being thrown under the bus with quotes from anonymous sources... The one Washington DC outsider in the race Sarah Palin... Do you really beilieve she didn't know Africa was a continent? C'mon this is the DC establishmnet/ cock tail circuit protecting its own...
& Dwight enough already with the feigned sympathy for our War dead... Those fellas who stormed Omaha, Juneau, Point du Hocque must die another death every time you folks on the left spout off about it... You people hate the military & always show your disdain for those who serve, Just the fact that you criticize their adult decisions shows how little respect you have for their intellect so please as one who served give the "Our Poor Troops" bit a FN Break already... You guys won you don't need to fake it any more, it's very insulting...

Bob, as usual you have excellently described the circumstances in which most American Citizens and some immigrants find themselves. It is without doubt Dwight or whatever that entity is calling itself today has again selected the worst of human attributes with which to form an opinion. No doubt about Obama winning hands down. Although there are serious question to be answered as to how he managed to amass such a large gathering of uninformed young people and keep them focused on anything but the seriousness of the issues facing America beyond "a black man running for President". Sorry, but that is how I sum up this election. Perhaps with a McCain Fiengold resolution to Campaign Financing money would not have bought the Presidency in 2008. If we keep trying and we will make this a better place in which to raise children.
