Congratulations to Becky, Peter and Jack for the Immigration series found in the New Bedford Standard Times

The paper did a fantastic job covering the plight of those seeking the “American Dream”.  The concerted effort was obviously designed to shed light on the desperation of most  illegal immigrants and in particular, Central Americans.  There can be no doubt that one would have to be heartless to not concede that their conditions are indeed unacceptable and worthy of a dramatic change. However, there was a time in this country when men saw the same desperate need for change. I’m having trouble recalling the Founding Fathers of these United States refusing to make a stand and instead, calling for an exodus away from their land.

Americans certainly don’t own the value of what true freedom means and hardly created the thinking of its priceless treasure;
So long as the people do not care to exercise their freedom, those who wish to tyrannize will do so; for tyrants are active and ardent, and will devote themselves in the name of any number of gods, religious and otherwise, to put shackles upon sleeping men.” - Voltaire

I didn’t write to you just to parrot the thoughts of others but to remind you that the same people who would have Americans do more for our neighbors by letting them all steal into the country, are the same people who will call America “imperialists” and “warmongers” should we arm the afflicted and free the peasants in these countries who live in corrupt and desperate conditions and who live under tyrants and thieves.
The United States cannot and should not be expected to absorb the many millions of invaders who successfully breach our unimpressive security measures without adjusting to the impact. The Pilgrims of Plymouth Plantation in 1620 built up more civilized conditions than the current conditions of 90% of those living in squalor and primitive areas in Central America. Why?
Americans can no longer turn our backs on our close neighbor’s plight. More importantly, we never should have. 


 I am my brother’s keeper and I do have a responsibility for his well being.  The problem with liberals though, is that they are quite generous with things they don’t happen to own. Our laws, our property and our well-being are things we should and must protect first.  If we help those who help themselves, we are doing the right thing. The right thing for America and for those living in squalor is to change the squalor, not the scenery of those living in it.

Let us not encourage the illegal immigrants to quote the faint of heart; “Exit, stage left” – Snagglepuss


Instead, let them find the courage and the God given right to live in freedom and away from tyranny in their own land by teaching them the examples and thoughts of the bravest in history;

So yeah, I'm conceding this much; The time for talk is over. There is only one way to convert the violence and tyranny too many people live in right under our noses and borders and that way is by using force. The problem with that solution is that it happens to be the one solution liberals refuse to adhere to. Much like our own immigration policy, the only thing that works is enFORCEment. Eliminate the drug cartels, gangs, despots or sit back and live with them....more accurately, under them.
